I have been hearing about an Indian-themed terraced Restaurant/Lounge/Bar/Coffee-shop since last summer, and judging by the pictures on their website I felt very tempted to drop by and check it out, and that was why I’ve called a dear friend and challenged her for lunch at this new unknown, but very promising ”terraço” (that’s Portuguese for an open-air patio).
Very central location, easy to find and in one of the trendiest districts in Lisbon – Princípe Real. The downside is that it can be real pain to find a parking space, but it is far worse at night.
The first thing that pops up is an Indian clothing and garment shop, with really nice and colorful tunics, jackets, even those pointy Aladdin-like shoes .. in summary, a real Indian Souk.
Lost in Esplanada Bar is right after a big open gate, which at a first glance it leads to nowhere… but not exactly!
Indian-themed, extremely cozy and colorful, like I have always imagined Indian lounges would be, this restaurant is composed of 3 distinct rooms: The winter terrace (a terrace with see-through cover and walls) where I had lunch still whilst enjoying the breathtaking view; The open terrace lounge, where there is a more Buddhist resemblance decor, and comfy sofas to sit back and enjoy the view, as well as and an interior dining room, which of course, was empty.
Who would sit inside with this lovely weather and sun?
We had the sandwich menu, which was very simple yet tasty and, of course, a sweet dessert “Tartin with ice cream”.
Everything was delicious and I loved the ambience! Oh, and did I mention the view was absolutely spectacular?
A delightful shanti shanti* paradise to brighten up your day and week!
*Shanti, Santhi or Shanthi (from Sanskrit शान्तिः śāntiḥ) means peace, rest, calmness, tranquility, or bliss.
